World War Z is coming

Just when you thought you were full up on zombie films, a piece of art comes along to make you say, "Damn, I'd like to see that come to life." Case in point: The below image you see from artist Daniel LuVisi. He created the piece, entitled "The Battle of Yonkers," in an attempt to land a job on World War Z, Paramount Pictures' big-budget zombie epic based on the Max Brooks novel. Writer J. Michael Straczynski adapted the story for the screen.

Website io9 received the following message from LuVisi:

This is the image I did, to get on the film World War Z with Marc Forster, director of Quantum of Solace. Can't say whats going on or what the outcome is right now, but it's not in the negative zone :)

This was one of the most difficult images I've ever done. Incredibly challenging to the point where I wanted to quit. But through thick and thin I forced myself to complete it.

Old news, I know. However, JMS (of Babylon 5 and Spiderman fame) can pen some awesome stuff. I hope this lives up to the hype. Remember your carbine and machete.

Witchdoctor crackdown

Police in southern Tanzania say they have arrested a man accused of attempting to sell his albino wife.

The man was allegedly planning to sell his wife to two Congolese businessmen for around $3,000.

Albinos have been living in fear in Tanzania after a series of killings due to a belief their body parts can make magic potions more effective.

At least 27 people with albinism have been killed since March, including a seven-month old baby.

President Jakaya Kikwete ordered a police crackdown on those involved in the killings, and 170 witchdoctors have since been arrested.

If they want to be conduits to the forces of nature, they should follow Shatner's lead.

I made this kit for the Zombies Are Love Swap and I've been working on a second one for myself since After all Halloween is just around the corner and who knows when one might need a boomstick in a hurry?

I was initially inspired after seeing this Zombie survival kit on the internet, but I had some ideas on how to take it to another level. I really liked the transparent riot shields used in 28 Days Later and I figured, "Why not make the case multi-functional at the same time?" So when the plexi-glass cover is removed it becomes the perfect protection against zombie related carnage and splatter. Inside the case is arguable the best tool to have during a Zombie attack. None other than the trusty shotgun! Along with it are some spare bullets shells and a machete for when you're all out of ammo. I also have a bit of a thing for those easy to understand safety signs with the little diagrams of stickpeople on them. So I created a sign to be posted next to the station for quick, last minute instructions.

Personally, I think it will be some sort of biological zombie apocalypse. That's why I would want to buy an abandoned, underground missile base. That would make the perfect place to hole up and wait for the end of humanity.
